Nikon lens coating

The Art of Lens Coating

Nikon manufacture and apply one of three types of coating, these offer differing degrees of protection and visual enhancements that a glasses wearer may desire in their spectacles. The coatings are the Premium SeeCoat, the easy clean HCC Ikon and the Nikon’s standard HCC.

The Premium SeeCoat is the newest of Nikon’s lens coatings available. The anti reflective coating also has the highest scratch resistance available. The hydrophobic coating is extremely easy to clean and lasts twice as long as any other hydrophobic coating on the market. Furthermore, the light control that Nikon has added to the coating, reduces red refractive color by 42%.

The Nikon SeeCoat give greater visual enhancement by being able to control the light being transmitted across the lens from any angle, this minimises the red colour seen in the periphery of conventional lenses giving a much more natural look to your eyes.

The SeeCoat has excellent water repellent qualities that allow a high resistance to finger prints and dirt accumulation. This makes them far easier to clean, also staying cleaner for up to two times longer than conventional super hydrophobic coatings.

The unique technology employed in the SeeCoat gives the lenses the highest scratch resistance properties around; providing clear vision over an extended period of the lens’ life. This protects the lenses from all types of scratches.

The HCC stands for Hard Clear Coating and with this coating, lenses stay cleaner longer and stronger than ever before. The HCC Ikon lenses allow water and oil to turn into droplets, making cleaning much easier and safer even over the standard HCC coating and being far superior to convention hard coats. The droplets will slide off the lenses, no longer impairing vision. This coating reduces reflections to a minimum so that your eyes are seen more clearly.

Standard HCC

The Standard HCC still employs the highest technology and quality. Nikon uses hydrophobic anti reflective coating, which is extremely scratch resistant. They also provide superior UV protection as well by utilising the UV cut 400 process, which blocks harmful UV light

Nikon has been providing premium lenses for cameras and eyeglasses for 93 years now. They still employ the highest quality and superior technology, so no matter what lenses you are looking for, you know you will always be receiving the best.
